Luqmaan Khan, a 25-year-old student at the University of Delaware, was arrested on November 24 after law enforcement discovered a cache of firearms and body armor in his vehicle, which was parked in a public park after class hours. The New Castle County Police reported that Khan possessed a pistol, multiple extended ammunition magazines, and a conversion kit capable of modifying a handgun into a semi-automatic rifle.

Khan was allegedly planning a violent attack targeting the university's police department, as indicated by handwritten notes found in his possession that included phrases such as "kill all – martyrdom." The police apprehended him after observing his nervous demeanor when they approached his vehicle.

According to Master Corporal Richard Chambers of the New Castle Police, the officers conducted a thorough investigation rather than simply asking Khan to leave the park, which led to the discovery of the weapons and plans. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding gun violence and the potential for mass shootings in educational settings, raising questions about the societal implications of militarism and the accessibility of firearms.
