Massachusetts State Police (MSP) carried out Operation Firewall, resulting in the arrest of 56 individuals over a three-day period across 38 communities. This operation targeted crimes related to child sexual abuse material, with troopers executing 34 residential search warrants and seizing 229 electronic devices. The suspects, whose ages range from 18 to 75, face charges that include possession of child pornography, child enticement, assault and battery of a child, rape of a child, and failure to register with the Sex Offender Registry Board.

Governor Maura Healey highlighted the operation's significance in protecting communities, especially children, and commended the efforts of Colonel Geoffrey Noble and the participating troopers. The operation involved multiple units within the State Police, including the Cyber Crime Unit and the High Risk Victims Unit, with local law enforcement assisting in the execution of warrants and arrests.

The MSP receives cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which has reported a 270% increase in suspicious online activity since 2020. In just one week, the center provided 1,074 tips for investigation by the Cyber Crime Unit. Colonel Noble urged parents to actively monitor their children's online activities and to set clear guidelines regarding the sharing of explicit material. The State Police also encourage anyone with information about child exploitation to contact 911.
