Stacey Plaskett, the non-voting delegate from the U.S. Virgin Islands, was reportedly in communication with Jeffrey Epstein during a congressional hearing in February 2019. The hearing involved Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former attorney, who was testifying about alleged financial misconduct and hush-money payments related to Trump's extramarital affairs. Text messages exchanged between Plaskett and Epstein, which were part of a recent release of documents by the House Oversight Committee, suggest that Epstein provided her with guidance on questions to ask Cohen.

The messages indicate that Epstein was following the hearing in real time and offered insights, including references to Trump’s former executive assistant, Rhona Graff. Plaskett's inquiries during the hearing aligned with Epstein's suggestions, raising concerns about the appropriateness of such interactions, especially given Epstein's status as a convicted sex offender.

At the time of the hearing, Epstein had already pleaded guilty to state charges in Florida in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a minor. His connections to the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he owned property and had donated to local politicians, further complicate the narrative surrounding his influence.

Plaskett's office confirmed that she received various messages during the hearing, including those from Epstein, and emphasized her commitment to uncovering the truth regarding sexual assault and human trafficking. The office stated that Plaskett has a history of advocating for victims and expressed her disapproval of Epstein's actions.

In addition to providing advice, Epstein also complimented Plaskett's appearance during the hearing, which raises additional questions about the nature of their communication. Plaskett has previously served as one of the House impeachment managers during Trump's 2021 Senate trial, highlighting her active role in significant political proceedings.
