Kris Boyd, a 29-year-old cornerback for the New York Jets, was shot in the abdomen early Sunday morning in midtown Manhattan. According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), Boyd is currently in critical condition at a local hospital. The shooting occurred around 2:00 AM local time outside a high-end restaurant named Sei Less. The NYPD has confirmed that they received a 911 call regarding the incident, but as of now, there are no suspects in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

A spokesperson for the Jets confirmed Boyd's identity as the shooting victim, while the NYPD did not disclose his name. Boyd joined the Jets earlier this year after playing two seasons with the Houston Texans, and he has also played for the Arizona Cardinals and the Minnesota Vikings. He had been on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury sustained during practice in August.

In response to the incident, Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson expressed his concern for Boyd on social media, asking for prayers for his teammate's recovery. The situation has drawn attention to the ongoing issue of gun violence in the United States, particularly in urban areas like New York City.
