Former President Donald Trump has announced that he is withdrawing his support for Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, citing significant policy disagreements as the primary reason. This development comes as Greene has faced threats and criticism, particularly in relation to her stance on the release of documents connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Greene, a long-time supporter of Trump, has recently diverged from his positions on key issues, including health care funding, which contributed to a prolonged government shutdown. In a social media post, she expressed concern over the aggressive rhetoric directed at her, linking it to previous incidents of violence against her. Greene has been vocal about her commitment to supporting survivors of sexual abuse and has criticized the lack of transparency regarding Epstein's activities.

On November 15, Trump declared via Truth Social that he was "withdrawing" his "support and Endorsement" of Greene, suggesting he might back a primary challenger against her. He accused her of shifting towards the "far Left" and criticized her for expressing dissatisfaction with his communication. Greene responded by denying any claims that she had reached out to Trump and shared text messages that she believes influenced his decision.

The conflict escalated further when Trump labeled Greene a "disgrace" to the Republican Party. Greene was one of four House Republicans who joined Democrats in a petition to compel a House vote for the release of all materials related to Epstein. She has questioned Trump's motivations for opposing the release of these files, suggesting that external pressures may be influencing his stance.

The House Oversight Committee recently released over 20,000 pages of documents related to Epstein, prompting discussions among House Democrats regarding Trump's knowledge of Epstein's activities. Greene characterized Trump's opposition to the release of these files as a significant error, asserting that he has not been implicated in any wrongdoing related to Epstein and emphasizing her support for women affected by his actions.

Additionally, Greene has aligned with some Democratic lawmakers advocating for the extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits, which were set to expire and contributed to the recent government shutdown. She expressed concern over the financial implications for Americans due to the expiration of these tax credits, indicating her willingness to cross party lines on this issue. Greene's relationship with Trump appears to be increasingly strained as they navigate these contentious topics ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
