Critique of U.S. Policy on Gaza and Israel

Khanna compared the actions of those who supported the aid to the mistakes made by proponents of the Iraq War. He called for Congress to cease arms sales to Israel, advocating for the implementation of the 'No Bombs Act' led by Illinois Representative Delia Ramirez, which seeks to halt the transfer of certain military systems to Israel amid ongoing violence in Gaza.
He emphasized the need for adherence to international law, urging recognition of the United Nations and the International Court of Justice's findings regarding the situation in Gaza, which he described as genocide. Khanna called for the U.S. to align with 150 other nations in acknowledging Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside a secure Israel.
Khanna articulated the sentiments of younger Americans, who he claimed are frustrated with vague political rhetoric regarding peace and justice. He urged the Democratic Party to adopt a position of moral courage in addressing these issues.
Earlier in 2025, Matthew Miller, a former spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, acknowledged that Israel had committed war crimes in Gaza. Reports indicate that at least 68,875 Palestinians have died due to Israeli military actions since October 2023, not accounting for additional deaths from starvation, disease, and the breakdown of essential services. Despite a ceasefire, Israeli forces have continued operations resulting in Palestinian casualties in both Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
