Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza provided an interview to Fox Sports following his team's 13-10 victory over Ohio State, which secured the Big Ten Championship. Mendoza, who recorded 222 passing yards and one touchdown during the game at Lucas Oil Stadium, expressed his joy at the achievement, stating, "It sounds so beautiful," while attributing the success to divine influence and the support of his coaches and teammates.

Mendoza emphasized the team's identity as "a bunch of misfits" and described their approach as process-oriented, focusing on daily improvement across all aspects of the team, including offense, defense, and special teams. He noted the strong camaraderie among the players, stating, "We can drag teams into the deep end because we know we’re going to stick together, and we have the strongest glue ever!"

He also discussed his connection with wide receiver Charlie Becker, highlighting their consistent practice sessions that contributed to their successful plays during the game. Mendoza's performance throughout the season, which includes 2,758 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and five interceptions, positions him as a contender for the Heisman Trophy. Despite an early interception in the championship game, he led the Hoosiers to their 13th consecutive victory.
